Marion Elizabeth Fleisch, 99, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at her residence. She was born in April of 1922 in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of the late Peter Calpeter and Charlotte Gehm Calpeter.
Marion lived in N. Syracuse over 60 years and is presently a resident of Chippewa Bay, New York. In October of 1944, Marion married the late Robert L. Fleisch. Her working career consisted of serving at the North Syracuse School Board Office. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 7290 for 70 years. Marion was also a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, N. Syracuse, New York and was an active member of Luther Memorial's Altar Guild and various church organizations.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Geraldine Ewaldsen (Ford) of North Carolina; her grandchildren: Ford Ewaldsen, Jr. (Shayne) of Aldi, Virginia, Marianne Beardall (Matthew) of Potomac, Maryland; six great-grandchildren: Christian Ewaldsen, Nathan Ewaldsen, Matthew Beardall, Caroline Beardall, Reagan Beardall and Carson Beardall. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Richard Dunham of Newville, Pennsylvania.
A funeral service celebrating Marion’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1401 Heathcliff, Road, High Point, North Carolina. Burial will be at a later date in her hometown of Syracuse. The family will receive guests at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.
