ASHEBORO – Marion Juanita Bame Matthews, 92, died Sunday, July 26, 2020 at her residence.
She was born February 17, 1928, in Guilford County and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Addie Whitaker Bame. She was of the Baptist faith and retired from Monarch Furniture and Trinity Furniture.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Matthews; son, Marvin Odell Tucker, Jr.; son-in-law, William Clark; sister, Virgie Bame Voncannon; and three brothers, C.L. Bame, Fred Bame and Robert Bame.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Linda Tucker Rook of Archdale; grandson, Richard Adam Pegram (Anna); step-grandchildren, Audra Rook Coleman, Joseph Clark Rook (Tamara); two great-grandchildren, Ashley Pegram and Austin Pegram; four step-great-grandchildren, Jacob Rook, Matthew Wagner, Paige Coleman and Ryan Coleman; a great-great-granddaughter, Ryleigh, due any day; sister, Mattie Lee Mason (Tom) of Christiansburg, VA; sister-in-law, Shelby Matthews; brother-in-law, Terry Fowler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service celebrating Marion’s life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Morris Little officiating.
The family will speak with friends at the cemetery Thursday following the service.
