Mary Anna Johnson

Mary Anna Johnson, 80, of High Point, passed away June 30, 2018.  She was born to the late Ernest Moon and Violet Marian Hilliard, on December 26, 1937, in San Diego, CA, but was raised in Anderson, SC.  Mary Anna graduated from Limestone College in Gaffney, SC, and worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Oak Hill Elementary for 14 years.  She loved spending time with her family and friends and never met a stranger, and she was known for her giving and charitable nature.  She loved animals and was collector of ceramic bunnies and angels.  Mary Anna was an active member and volunteer at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church, and she also volunteered for Mobile Meals and High Point Regional Hospital.  A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Richard ‘Dick’ Johnson; son, Richard Johnson and his wife Jan H. Johnson; daughter, Anna Marian Johnson Matteo and her husband Daniel J. Matteo; four grandchildren, Meredith Paige Matteo, John Michael ‘Jack’ Matteo, Leigh Anna Johnson Marbert and her husband Bryan Marbert, and Richard ‘Trey’ Johnson, III; and one great grandson, Maxton Powell Marbert.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, July 2, 2018, at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church in High Point with Rev. Joe Blankenship officiating.  A reception will follow the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
