THOMASVILLE – Mary Evelyn Wright Coltrane, 89, died Monday, June 7, 2021 at Piedmont Crossing.
She was born April 4, 1932 in High Point and was the daughter of the late Thomas Clark and Clara Kennedy Wright. She attended Allen Jay High School and was a member of Archdale Friends Meeting where she sang in the choir. Mary was a faithful and devoted wife, mother and homemaker who supported her sons and all their sporting activities. She served as a volunteer at High Point Hospital and worked the High Point Furniture Market for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Hubert Wright.
Mary is survived by her husband, Joseph “Joe” F. Coltrane, whom she married on April 14, 1949; sons, Joseph Clark Coltrane (Denise) of Archdale, Michael Coltrane (Kathy) of Lexington, Gregory Lee Coltrane of Auburn, Alabama and Joel Scott Coltrane of Bluffton, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ruby Wright of Boston, Massachusetts.
The family will conduct a memorial service celebrating Mary’s life at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Archdale Friends Meeting with Ben Hurley officiating. The family will speak with friends one hour prior to the service.
