Mary Gail Alexander Thompson, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the Hospice Home at High Point.
Mary Gail was born August 7, 1940 in Nashville, TN to the late Terry Renn Alexander and Marguerite Pollard Alexander. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brother, Terry Renn Alexander, Jr.; sisters, Renn Carlisle, Greta Cox and Paynes Stanley.
Those who will cherish Mary Gail’s memories are, her husband of 53 years, James Clark Thompson; son, Marcus “Mark” Thompson of High Point; daughter, Joanna Thompson of Roxboro, NC; a sister, Peggy Carmichael and husband Buck of Newton, NC; granddaughter, Jordan Cox and grandsons, Hunter James Riley and Tanner John Riley.
Mary Gail was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, affectionately known as “Grammy” by her grandchildren. She was employed as a bookkeeper by Drs. Aderholdt and McFalls for 47 years. Mary Gail was a member of the Church of Christ in Lexington, NC. Mary Gail loved the beach; the feel of sand between her toes and collecting seashells.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:15 pm on Friday, October 5, 2018 followed by a funeral service at 1:30pm in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point. Pastor Brock Shanks will officiate.
