Mary Coltrane Wilson, a lifelong resident of High Point, went to join our Lord and Savior surrounded by loving family members and friends in her long-time Jamestown home on Friday, February 14, 2020. With a warm personality, compassionate heart and determined spirit, Mary made a positive impact on everyone she met. She will be mourned and celebrated by many.
Mary was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 42 years, Edward Harold Wilson, who passed away in 1990, as well as her devoted friend, Paul Arthur Lowthian. Daughter of Issac and Hattie Coltrane, Mary was also preceded by her brother, Donald Leroy Coltrane of Thomasville, and sister, Hilda Ward Ellis of Greensboro. Mary is survived by three loving children, Harold Wilson of High Point, Carol Eaker of Weddington, and Joy Galloni of Prince George, Virginia, as well as five admiring grandchildren and six adorable great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Mary was a faithful member of Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church her entire life and deeply loved her church family. For more than 25 years, Mary joyfully worked at Union Hill School and Guilford Technical Community College, enjoying the opportunity to spread happiness while encouraging young students to succeed. She never met a stranger and was frequently seen talking with neighbors in her well-manicured, award-winning yard. Mary will be remembered by her many friends and family as a thoughtful, kind, and cheerful personality who enjoyed life to the fullest.
The family will receive friends to celebrate Mary’s life from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 16 at Cumby’s Family Funeral Service on Eastchester Drive. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 17 at Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church on Hickory Chapel Road.
Mary will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Floral Garden Memorial Park on West English Road following the service.
In lieu of flowers, honor Mary’s deep Christian faith by attending and/or donating to Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church.
