Mary Irene (Shackelford) Isaacs

ARCHDALE – Mary Irene Shackelford Isaacs, 89, died Sunday, March 22, 2020, at her residence.

She was born September 11, 1930, in Guilford County and was the daughter of the late Walter Lee Shackelford, Sr. and Lula Cox Shackelford. She was a member of Allendale Baptist Church and loved her yorkie, Tinker Bell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Richard Lee Isaacs; son, Robert Wayne Isaacs; sisters, Ruth Stevenson and Zana Talley; and brother, Walter L. Shackelford, Jr.

Irene is survived by husband, James Evans, of Archdale; daughter-in-law, Madeline Isaacs of Sophia; sister, Frances Berrier (Mitchell) of Randleman; brother, Glenn Shackelford (Carolyn) of Archdale; brother-in-law, Ray Talley of Archdale; and several nieces and nephews.

Due to new gathering restrictions, services celebrating Irene’s life will be now be private with Rev. David Younger officiating.

The family will speak with friends following the service Friday at the cemetery.
