Mrs. Mary Lou Peele Hayworth, 88, resident of Horneytown Rd., died June 4, 2021 at Spring Arbor of Thomasville.
She was born March 21, 1933 in Surry County, a daughter to the late Willie and Roxie Coe Peele. As a resident of this area most of her life, she worked forty-five years Drexel Heritage and had attended Abbott’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church. On August 13, 1948, she married Ray Hayworth who preceded her in death in 2017. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her six brothers.
Surviving is a daughter, Sharon Kennedy of Thomasville; a son, Tommy Hayworth and wife Lisa of High Point; a sister, Louise Proctor of Trinity; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Rev. James Shetley officiating. The interment will follow the service at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
