TRINITY – Merle Steven “Steve” Davis, 69, died Thursday, January 7, 2021, at his residence.
He was born April 16, 1951 in Giles County, Virginia and was the son of the late Earsel James Davis, Sr. and Mary Worth Davis. He served in the Army National Guard and was a retired plant supervisor with Swaim, Inc. (formerly Wagner Woodcraft). Steve owned Touch of Life Taxidermy Service and taught taxidermy classes at Randolph Community College. He also had his own fishing club, The One Bass Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earsel James “Jigger” Davis, Jr.
Steve is survived by his wife, Tammy Mastin Davis of the home; son, Steven L. Davis and girlfriend, Carrie Bittle, of Trinity; daughter, Stacie M. Freeman and husband, Brian, of Thomasville; and brother, Jerry Allen Davis of Sophia.
Memorial service celebrating Steve’s life will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, January 13, 2021, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Pastor Jack Elkes officiating.
The family will speak to friends immediately following the service.
