Mildred Marie Walley

Mrs. Mildred Marie Glisson Walley, 94, resident of High Point, died June 22, 2022 at the home of her son.

She was born December 24, 1927 in Smith County, Mississippi, a daughter to Marvin and Bertha McDaniel Glisson.  As a resident of this area since 1988, she had worked with the City of High Point and was a member of First United Methodist Church.  She was known as a kind, generous, and friendly woman who had a great love of life and people.  In 1948, she married Glen B. Walley who preceded her in death in July of 2007.  Seven brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Randy Walley (Carolyn) of High Point and Dale Walley (Jan) of Cary; a daughter, Glenda Walley of Ashburn, VA; eight grandchildren, Rebecca O’Bryon, Jenny Brock, Rachel Williams, Joanna Mahserdjian, Jason Walley, Claire Crabb, Jeremy Walley, and Megan Scales; and eighteen great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Community Bible Church in High Point.  Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church at 512 N. Main St. High Point, NC 27260 or to Hospice of the Piedmont at 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262.  The family extends special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Hospice of the Piedmont for the wonderful care she received during their time together.  Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point is assisting the family.
