Molly Geraldine (Griffin) McGowan

High Point – Molly Geraldine Griffin McGowan, 98, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, April 16, 2021.

Molly was born in Richmond County, NC on February 8, 1923 to the late William Luther Griffin and Mattie Ida Brown Griffin.  In addition to her parents, her husband, Robert Henry McGowan; her son, Robert Reid McGowan; her siblings, William Franklin Griffin, Floyd Thomas Griffin, Ray Griffin, Paul Griffin, Carol Herndon and her twin sister, Martha Griffin all preceded her in death.

Molly was a strong Christian woman and was a member of 1st Baptist Church in High Point for 27 years before moving her membership to Westchester Baptist Church.   She served in the Tape Ministry, Rest Home Ministry, Day Care Ministry, mobile meals and was a member of the choir.  She loved and cared about people especially children.  She work in Day Care for First Baptist Church, Green Street Baptist Church and Westchester Baptist Church for 20 years or more.   Her hobbies included, flower gardening, letter writing, artwork and walking 4 miles a day for 10 years. She remained activity as long as her health allowed.

Her children, Rosemary McGowan of High Point, Thomas Neil McGowan and wife, Heidi of Virginia; sister, Lois Elma Griffin; daughter-in-law, Jocelyn McGowan of South Carolina; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren survive Molly.

Family has requested no service at this time.  A private burial will take place at Richmond Memorial Park.
