ARCHDALE- Monroe Waldon, 91, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 2, 2018.
He was born on September 11, 1926 in High Point, to the late Kelly and Rosie Irwin Waldon. A resident of this area all of his life, he attended High Point City Schools, and he proudly served his country in the US Army; having served during WW II and the Korean War. He worked for Baker Furniture and retired after 30 plus years of service, as plant manager. Monroe enjoyed aviation; particularly flying small planes, and he held a private pilot’s license. His true love and passion was spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the former First Pentecostal Holiness Church where he taught Sunday school and he attended Trindale Community Church. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend, and will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his beloved wife, Mary; his brother Herman; and his sister, Jewel Greenberg.
Those left to cherish his memory; are his son Mike Waldon; his granddaughters; Christy Farlow and Kelly Waldon; his great grandchildren, Kaley Waldon, Hayley Presnell and Ayden Waldon; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins.
A service to celebrate Monroe’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 7, at 2 pm, at Trindale Community Church, with Pastor Ottis Collins and Pastor Tim Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery, with Military Honors accorded by the Randolph County Honor Guard. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 6, from 6 until 8 pm, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
