Mozelle (Smith) Walker

Mrs. Georgia Mozelle Smith Walker, 93, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019 at Brookdale High Point North.

Mozelle was born May 7, 1925 in Surry County, the third of nine children to the late Drew William and Mariner Mabe Smith.  In 1942, she married Rev. Charles B. Walker who preceded her in death.  They would have been married 75 years prior to his death on February 14, 2017.  She was admired for her devotion to him and for their combined efforts to raise their three daughters in a Christ-centered home.

Surviving are daughters, Ann Walker Allnutt of Archdale, Janice Walker Allred and husband Craig of Lexington and Debra Walker Siler and husband Billy of High Point; a sister, Mae Hill; three brothers, Herbert, J.R. and Cecil Smith; six grandchildren, Toni Snyder (Jay), Kimberly Bekat, Cynthia Phelps (Dean), Branson Allred, Kyle Siler (Trina) and Kristen Lawlor (EJ); ten great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and many extended family and close friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Jeanette Kay Walker, three sisters and one brother.

A celebration of Mozelle’s life will be held on Thursday, March 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church in Sophia with Rev. Andrew “Andy” Schulze, Rev. Harold Shives and Mr. Darrell Frye officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to her team of home caregivers and the Brookdale Memory Care staff who both took such good care of Mozelle.  The grandchildren are especially thanked for all the time they spent with “Granny” making special memories these past few years.
