High Point – Nancy Gail Jones, 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 5, 2021 at WFBH – High Point Medical Center.
Nancy was born in High Point on December 15, 1941 to the late John Henry Jones and Ruth Swaim Jones. In addition to her parents, a brother, Odell Jones and a sister, Helen Irby also preceded her in death.
Nancy was a lifelong member of the High Point community and Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member of the “Helping Hands” Sunday school class, and The Wiggs Missions Circle. Nancy was the “Queen” of mailing cards with words of comfort and encouragement to many in the congregation and community.
In her younger days, Nancy loved to travel. One of her favorite trips was with her friend, Vicki Hilton to Nashville, where they enjoyed front-row seats at the Grand Olde Opry. They also attended the Gospel Quartet competition that weekend. Gospel music was Nancy’s favorite type of music.
Nancy enjoyed working at Lambs Nursing Home, Wesleyan Arms and Westchester Manor where she served and cared for the many residents. She was a kind and caring soul.
Nancy is survived by her sister, Katherine Nance of High Point; nephews, Keith Nance and wife, Marty and their son, Seth, John Irby and wife, Lurann; niece, Terri Cox and husband, Joe.
The family will greet friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church at 2817 Abbotts Creek Church Road in High Point. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Josh Jacobs, Reverend Roy Cantrell and Reverend Jack Rose. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
