Nancy Jean (Kaczmarek) Moerner

September 23, 1946 ~ December 29, 2021 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Tribute

Nancy Moerner was the absolute embodiment of a fighter.  She spent her life overcoming the many obstacles that were thrown in her path while maintaining an indominable spirit, being a fierce friend to many, a loving wife to her husband, and a nurturing mother to her children.

Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania in 1946, she spent the majority of her adult life in Kernersville and High Point, North Carolina where she enriched the lives of those around her.  She had a passion for reading, finishing crosswords in an absurdly short time, walking the greenway, and working as an elementary school teacher’s aide.  A keen observer, those of us that were smart enough to heed her advice were almost always rewarded.

In 1995 she was diagnosed with lymphoma and given a prognosis of a maximum of 6 years to live.  She not only overcame the initial illness but managed to put it in remission two additional times, the cancer never defeated her.  Side effects from the treatment resulted in COPD as her lung function was reduced to as low as 20%, but again she managed the limitations to the end and her lungs never failed her.  She finally passed away in peace with family around her on December 29, 2021.

She is survived by her husband Gerald, her sister Monica, her brother Paul, her sons Richard and Paul, and her grandchildren Emma and Maddie.  We love her and she will be sorely missed.
