Norma Jean (Hughes) Kirkman

Mrs. Norma Jean Hughes Kirkman, 78, resident of Archdale, died November 29, 2022 at High Point Medical Center.

Norma was born July 10, 1944 in Guilford County, a daughter to C.B. and Esther Modlin Hughes.  She graduated from Ragsdale High School and later worked for First Factors Corp./GE Capital over 30 years.  In 1969, she married Ronald “Ronnie” Kirkman who survives of the residence.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Judy.

Also surviving is her son, Ron Kirkman and wife Nicki of Trinity; a granddaughter, Tori Kirkman of Trinity; two brothers, Jerry Hughes and wife Tommie of Lexington and Richard Hughes and wife Pam of Archdale; and several special nieces and nephews.  Norma loved her family and especially enjoyed the times spent together at the beach.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Roger Carmichael officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the organization of the donor’s choice.
