Tribute

Pastor James Kenneth “Kenny” Fletcher, 68, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 22, 2020.

He was born on June 2, 1951 in Greensboro, son of the late Edward and Rachel Braxton Fletcher.  In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was a brother, Richard Fletcher.  He was a resident of the area all his life; he proudly served his country in the US Army and the US Navy Reserves, and was a retired employee of Tarheel Paper and Supply Company.  He was a member of Hope4U Church, where he served as Associate Pastor. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and taking them to church,  home and hospital visitation of church members and visiting those in nursing homes. He also enjoyed visiting war museums and historical sites.  Kenny loved his Lord and studying and reading his Bible.  He loved his family, his church family, and his work family at Tarheel Paper and Supply Company in Winston-Salem.  He loved NFL football and was a Carolina Panthers fan, loyal to his team till the end.  He always wanted to see them get a Super Bowl ring and at the end of every season he'd always say, "Well, maybe next year."  He lived in the "Keep Pounding" mode until the Lord called him home.  He was a loving husband, father, stepfather, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and he will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of over 19 years, Teresa McAdden Fletcher; his son, Kenneth Fletcher; his step son, Dalton Shaver; his stepdaughter, Rebekah Shaver; his brother, Don Fletcher and his wife, Peggy; eight grandchildren and one great grandson.

A service to celebrate Kenny’s life will be held on Saturday afternoon, July 25, at 2 o'clock, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor Joe Horrell officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery, with Military Honors accorded by the US Army Honor Guard and the Randolph County Honor Guard. His family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon, from 12:45 until 1:45, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kenny’s memory may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
