Mrs. Patricia May VanNostrand Baker, 86, resident of Jamestown, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus, on July 25th, 2021.
She was born on July 31, 1934 in Rochester, Minnesota, she was the second oldest daughter of Carlos E. and Ruth W. Simmons VanNostrand. Prior to moving to Jamestown several years ago, she was a resident of Thomasville most of her life. Together with her oldest daughter, Patti she enjoyed attending services at Central Triad Church in Winston-Salem. Patricia loved cooking, homemaking, and loved caring for her family, friends, and neighbors. She endured many physical problems throughout her life, she was deaf in her right ear, had a speech impediment, and wore leg braces until the age of 6 in order to learn how to walk. Despite her struggles, and at a very young age, Patricia met Jesus, and always gave him all the credit and glory for her strength that allowed her to live a life to the fullest possible. She always thanked Jesus for all of his blessings, and for all the things that she enjoyed throughout her life. Patricia was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and a Friend to many.
Surviving are two daughters, Patti Marlowe and husband Thomas of Jamestown and Cynthia Ring and husband Nathan; three Grandchildren, Leighann Hancock and husband Brian, Elijah Marlowe, and Cassie Ellis; four great grandchildren, Aarianna Faith Hancock, Benaiah “Benny” Hancock, Theodore “Theo” Hancock, and Lillie Koogler; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Baker in 1980; two sisters, Marrianne Main and Ruth Ann Sherman; and her brother, Carlos VanNostrand.
