ARCHDALE-Philip Queen, Sr., 81, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022.
He was born on November 10, 1940 in Thomasville, a son of the late Lester and Daisy Smith Queen. A resident of this area all his life, he served his country in the Army National Guard for 12 years. He later went to work for Baker Furniture and retired after 25 years of service. Philip enjoyed deep sea fishing; especially off the coast of Morehead City and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his sister Judy Craven and two brothers, Ray and Jerry Queen.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margie Carter Queen; his sons, Phillip Queen, Jr. and his wife, Judy, Michael Queen and his wife, Stephanie; his brother, Dale Queen and his wife, Polly. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Keith Queen and his wife. Heather, and Casey Queen; his great grandchildren, Peyton, Kiley, Brantley, Demilee and Damon.
A service to celebrate Philip’s life will be held on Saturday, January 15, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor Oliver Helsabeck officiating. The committal service will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park Cemetery.
