Born on September 1, 1936 to John and Martha Safrit Hinshaw, he was a lifelong resident of High Point and a graduate of High Point High School. Known as a hard-working salesman, Phil along with his wife, Shelby, owned and operated Whippoorwill Wholesale for 49 years, building a network of loyal customers and friends across the central Piedmont and Sandhills region. An avid deer hunter and outdoorsman, he loved time in the woods especially at his beloved farm in Ellerbe, NC.
