PLEASANT GARDEN-Phyllis Nelson “Sissy” Hood, 55, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.
She was born on November 27, 1963 in Guilford County, to Phillip and Gracie Jackson Nelson. A resident of this area all of her life, she had worked as a secretary at Hood Automotive, and was a member of Friendly Baptist Church in Climax; where she had taught Sunday school. Sissy enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to many and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her mother, and by a step daughter, Ashley Johnson.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years; Steve Hood; her son, Chance Hood; her father, Phillip Nelson; her brother, Eugene Nelson and his companion, Dawn; her sisters, Gracie Ferrell and Priscilla Milton. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Madison and Keegan.
A service to celebrate Sissy’s life will be held on Friday morning, December 21, at 11 o’clock, at Friendly Baptist Church, with Pastor Richard Hedgecock, Pastor Buddy Smith, and Pastor Steve Whitt officiating. Interment will follow in Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian. Her family will receive friends on Thursday evening, December 20, from 6 until 8, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
