R. Eugene "Gene" Langston

HIGH POINT - On August 6, Mr. Ralph Eugene Langston, 74 of High Point passed away at his home to join his wife, Mrs. Frankie Welborn Langston, in Heaven. Mr. Langston, known as Gene, was survived by his son, Kenny Ray Langston and his wife, Katherine of Archdale; and his daughter, Carol Langston Scheer and her husband, Erik David Scheer II of High Point. Gene was a kind, loving grandfather and great grandfather of Madeline, Johnathan, Ethan, Mallory, and Lanah. Gene was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ressie and May Langston and brother of Donald Ray Langston, who all preceded him in death. Gene attended Allen Jay High School. He had won many accolades in auto racing and was an enthusiast of the sport. He monitored the stock market daily, kept up with world events, and loved to talk politics. In his spare time, Gene studied history and enjoyed telling stories from the past. He married his teenage sweetheart and the two were married 49 years until Frankie passed away in 2013. The couple passed their legacy of kindness, integrity, and high moral character to their adoring children. His family is comforted by their faith of the promises of Eternal Life; not even death can separate us from the love of God. (Romans) and knowing that death is swallowed up in Victory. (I Corinthians). Funeral service celebrating Gene’s life will be held 2:00 PM Friday, August 9, 2019, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service. The family will received friends from 1:00 to 1:45 Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. A private family committal will take place at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.
