Franklinville – Ramona Kay Small Hughes, 64, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020, at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Born October 22, 1955, in High Point, Kay was the daughter of the late Gladys Geneva Fowler Small. In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Ray Hughes, Sr., her son, Darrell Ray Hughes, II, and siblings, Wayne Small and Joann Small. Kay was retired from St. John’s Packaging, and attended Worthville Baptist Church when she was able. She was a generous person always giving of her time and resources, and loved spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Kay is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Blanton (John), of North Myrtle Beach; sons, Jerry Small, Charles “Buddy” Norman (Terry), of South Carolina, and Aaron Hughes, of Franklinville; eight grandchildren, Blake, Chelsea, Ryan, Courtney, Peter, Bently, Taylor and Haley; nine great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Allison, Christopher, Timmy, Emersyn, Amber, Hannah, Racheal, and Carleigh; a sister, Mildred “Hiawatha” Waddell; and four brothers, Jimmy Small, Tony Small, Bobby Small, and Kenneth “Ken” McDowell.
Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 11th, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, officiated by Rev. Junior Dawkins. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
