Ray Cress

TRINITY-Ray Cress, 56, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.

He was born on January 13, 1963 in Greensboro, to Raymond and Frankie Stewart Cress. A resident of this area all his life, he worked for J. Butler’s Bar & Grille, for 25 years, and was an avid Washington Redskins fan. He enjoyed fishing, playing the drums and his dog, Brewster. His true love and passion was spending time with his family. He was a loving son, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, and will be missed dearly. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Cress, and his wife, Nola Cress.

He is survived by his sons, Derek Cress (Amanda), and Joey Cress (Amanda); his step children, Brandi Warnstaff (Jonathan Harmon); John Warnstaff (Nicole Childress) and Joshua Green; his mother, Frankie Stewart Cress; his sister, Donna Higgins (Mark). Also surviving are his grandchildren, Samantha Darby, Nathan Darby, Ryan Darby, Zoey Green and Nola Warnstaff, and his nieces, Maddison Allen (Nate) and Hanna Higgins.

A service to celebrate Ray’s life will be held on Saturday afternoon, May 25, at 2 o’clock, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon, from 12:45 until 1:45, at the funeral home, and after the service, at the home of Mark and Donna Higgins.
