Raymond Joseph Turney, 74, of Pilot Mountain died peacefully the Sunday Morning, May 20, 2018 at Shannon Gray Rehabilitation Center in Jamestown, North Carolina.
Raymond was born on June 1, 1943 in Pilot Mountain to the late Hubert Turney and Rema Boyles Turney. In addition to his parent Raymond was preceded in death by two brothers; Ralph and Moir Turney, and a sister; Ruth Gammons.
Raymond knew the important thing in life was family and friends. He was a “people person” enjoying getting to know and spending time with people, including playing a good game of Gin Rummy. He enjoyed being Papa Turney to the loves of his life, his grandchildren.
Raymond was the owner and operator of Ray’s Auto Part for 30 plus years and was a former member of the Ruritan Club in Pilot Mountain.
Those left to cherish Raymond’s memories are his daughter Cheryl Prillaman and husband, Michael of High Point, step-daughters and their mother, Melissa Sewell and husband, Marty of Pilot Mtn., Julie Ritter and husband Matt of Whitsett, Faye Turney of Pilot Mtn.; sisters Helen Brewer and husband, Doug of Pilot Mtn. and Cynthia Hundley of Lexington; grandchildren Ashton, Caylin, Jackson and Logan Prillaman, step-grandchildren Brady and Emma Ritter and Mason Sewell.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00 until 7:30 PM on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in the fellowship hall of Whitaker’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 751 Whitaker’s Chapel Road, in Pilot Mountain.
