Rev. Elwood Faircloth carried his cross to Jesus on Wednesday night March 14, 2018 at 815p. This hour comes as no surprise, as it’s proper dismissal time from a Wednesday night worship service. He led and dismissed countless worship services and this night was no different. He dismissed with loving grace.
He was born in Harnett, NC in 1932 and moved to High Point as a young adult. While in High Point, he met his loving wife and welcomed his calling into the ministry. He graduated from Fruitland Baptist Bible College.
He served as pastor at the following Baptist churches: High Rock, Garrell Street, Hillsville, Oak Grove, Albertson Road, and Fairmont Park. He brought the Gospel to anyone he encountered, in and outside of the church walls, from the Holy Land and on any given morning at the local Biscuitville.
He will be missed by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Stamey Faircloth, a resident at Gray Brier, 5 children, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and countless church members.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 17, from 5-7 pm and funeral service on Sunday, the 18th at 2 pm in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.
Our family would like to thank you all for your prayers of comfort and peace.
