ARCHDALE – Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints (Psalm 116:15). Rev. Frank Lucius Gribble, 93, went home to be with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he had preached about for many years on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Randolph County Hospice Home surrounded by loved ones and friends.
He was born July 16, 1927 in Towns County, Georgia and was the son of the late Clabus and Ella Gordon Gribble. Pastor Gribble graduated from Fruitland Baptist Bible in the spring of 1957. Rev. Gribble served in the ministry as Pastor from 1952 until present, including Landis Baptist Church in China Grove and New Hope Baptist Church in Burlington. On August 20, 1978 he began his ministry at Gospel Baptist Church. His ministry was based on spiritual doctrine, and he developed programs to minister to the community and help members grow spiritually. During his pastorate, the youth programs progressed with bringing in a full-time youth minister, attending youth summer camps, starting Gospel Baptist Beginner’s school, and the growing of the missions program. Pastor Gribble retired in August 2002 and continued to serve the church as Pastor Emeritus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Hall Gribble, whom he married on November 6, 1946; two sons, John Mark Gribble and Robert Alan Gribble; sister, Marlene Barfield; and brother, Clabus Gribble, Jr.
Frank is survived by his wife, Lynn Potts Gribble, whom he married on January 25, 1996; daughters, Carol Ann Gribble of Archdale and Priscilla Williams (Ted) of Sophia; son, Lee Gribble of Lenoir; step-daughter, Michelle Crafton of Wanaque, New Jersey; six grandchildren, Derek Gribble, Christin Billings (Jody), Ethan Gribble (Megan), Lydia Williams, Martha Williams and Gabe Williams; two step-grandchildren, Chloe and Jude Crafton; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Gospel Baptist Church.
Funeral service celebrating Pastor Frank’s life will be held 1:00 PM Monday, June 14, 2021, at Gospel Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Hill, Rev. Benny Vickrey and Pastor Randy Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Elon.
