Mr. Richard F. Smith, 91, resident of High Point, died Oct 26, 2019 at Westchester Manor. He was born July 19, 1928 in Guilford County, a son to Hubert and Iva Yarborough Smith. He was a resident of this area all his life and retired in 1984 from the IRS. He also was a member of 1st Baptist Church in HP and a veteran of the US Army having served in Korea. Following retirement, he worked for several years as a private CPA.
On Aug 16, 1953, he married his wife of 66 years, the former Alveria Coleman who survives of the residence. Also surviving are three children, Rick Smith Jr. and wife Lori, Nancy Walter and husband Roy and Kenneth David Smith and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Breck Smith, Stacie McCall and husband Brian, Benjamin Walter, Quinn Smith, Traci Strickland and Chuck Phillips and wife Heather; great grandchildren, Ethan Earls, Grayson Earls, Brayden Phillips, Haley Phillips, Will Strickland, Michael Allred and Graci Gibbs.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Dr. Joel Campbell and Rev. Bruce Hartgrove officiating. Entombment will follow at Floral Garden Park Mausoleum in High Point. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, 2408 Midview Dr. High Point.
