Riley Weldon Burns

Riley Weldon Burns, 83, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at High Point Regional Hospital.

He was born January 24, 1934, in Grandfield, OK, and was the son of the late Weldon R. and Lois Riley Burns.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired principal scientist with Armstrong World Industries, and a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Lee Burland Burns, whom he married on December 4, 1954, and a daughter, Beverly A. Burns.

He is survived by his son, Hugh W. Burns of Duluth, GA; and two grandchildren, Gennifer Palomino (Jorge) and Krysta Burns.

Memorial service celebrating Riley’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 21, 2017, at the Maryfield Chapel at Pennybyrn.  The family will greet friends at Ilderton Hall on the Pennybyrn campus following the service.
