TRINITY- Vernon Galloway, Jr., 82, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at the Hospice Home in High Point.
He was born on August 27, 1935 in Transylvania County, to the late Robert Vernon Galloway, Sr. and Myrtle Woods Galloway. A resident of this area most of his life, he proudly served our country in the US Marine Corps. He worked for Heritage Furniture Company and later for Carter Furniture, retiring as Vice President of Manufacturing. Vernon was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, and was active with the Baptist Men’s Association. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, playing the position of pitcher. Later on, he enjoyed antique shopping in the mountains and playing golf; especially at Colonial Country Club. He was a loving husband, father and brother and will be dearly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 60 plus years, Helen Powers Galloway; his children, Patricia Galloway, Kevin Galloway and Vaughn Galloway; his siblings, Gladys Branson, Troy Galloway, Pauline Stratton and her husband Bill, Diane Lilly and her husband Rick and Mike Galloway. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Juanita Morrison and Bernice Curry.
A service to celebrate Vernon’s life will be held on Thursday, March 22, at 11 am, at Trinity Baptist Church, with Pastor Morris Little and Pastor Ken Evans officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Flowers may be delivered to the church, Trinity Baptist Church, 6499 Hwy 62, Trinity, NC 27370, Thursday morning at 8:00.
