Tribute

HIGH POINT-Robert “Bobby” Grant, 63, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 9, 1956 in Arlington, VA, the son of the late Maxine Burge Grant. A resident of the High Point/Archdale area most of his life, he worked for S.E. Logo Wear in Winston-Salem, and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He was a former member of Archdale Friends Meeting, owned and operated the former Grant’s gym in Archdale, and had served as a volunteer fireman with Guil-Rand Fire Department for 8 years. Bobby never met a stranger. He was generous and loyal. He had an infectious laugh, was never short on sarcastic comments, and had a knack for telling it like it is. He was an avid sports fan; supporting his wife and countless players through Bishop McGuinness and Winston Salem Stealer’s basketball. He loved Notre Dame and Duke, much to the dislike of his daughter. He enjoyed weightlifting, sports talk radio, a good cheesesteak from Philly, his old green Scout, trips to Myrtle Beach, and any movie with Will Farrell in it. His true love and passion was spending time with his family.  He was a dedicated and loving husband, Dad, and “Pop Pop.”

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 27 years, Patricia Giordano “Trish” Grant; his daughter, Suzanne Grant Santomieri and her husband, Nicholas; his grandsons, Nicholas Philip Santomieri, Jr.  and Dominick Robert Santomieri; his extended family in Philadelphia including brothers and sisters in law and nieces and nephews; and his canine companions, Bella and Gus.  In addition to his mother, preceding him in death was his half-sister, Mary Jane Anderson.

Bobby was loved and appreciated by so many. His strength and fight in the last year, could never be matched. To those that knew and loved him, he was a big teddy bear. He was one of a kind.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday morning, November 28, at 11:00, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with Father Peter Leonard, OSFS, celebrant. His family will receive friends on Friday, November 27, from 6-8:00, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
