Robert Lee Hilliard, Sr.

Robert Lee Hilliard Sr., 84, of High Point passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019 at Hospice Home at High Point, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Robert was born on September 27, 1935, to the late Lonnie Adams Hilliard Sr. and Leona Outlaw Hilliard in Sumter, SC.  He attended High Point Public schools and graduated from High Point College in 1961, after serving in the United States Army.

On March 27, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Rogena Davis.  They were married 63 years before her passing March 31, 2018.  Robert and Rogena were longtime members of Green Street Baptist Church before retiring and moving to Murrells Inlet, SC.

In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by his eldest son Robert “Lee” Hilliard Jr. and his brother Lonnie Adams Hilliard Jr.  He is survived by his son, Todd Adams Hilliard and wife Kim; daughter-in-law Jodie (Mrs. Lee) Hilliard Jr., and his sister Barbara Hilliard Whitson all of High Point.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Drew Michael Hilliard of Charlotte, Allison Hilliard (Jordon) Hobbs of Winston-Salem and Robert Lee Hilliard III of High Point.

No formal visitation or service is planned.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice Home at High Point for their compassionate care for Robert in his final days.
