Roland Albertson

Mr. William Roland Albertson, 90, resident of Archdale, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 14th, 2019 at Westchester Manor.

Roland was born November 15, 1928 to Carl and Myrtle Albertson of Archdale, N.C. He worked for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company for sixty years where he was past president of High Point Life Underwriters and Estate Planning Company, retiring at the age of eighty eight.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served two years as active duty and four years in the reserves.  Roland was very civic oriented.  He was past president of the Archdale-Trinity Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Board of Adjustments for the City of Archdale, a member of the Randolph County School Board for seven years, a member of Archdale-Trinity Lions club for sixty years, chaired the committee to erect the Gazebo in memory of Trinity College, and was Civitan Citizen of the year in 1984.  In 2019, he received the lifetime achievement award from the Archdale-Trinity Chamber of Commerce.  He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Archdale Friends Meeting for seventy years and taught Sunday school for sixty years.

On November 10, 1948, he married the former Naomi Fowler who survives of the residence.  In addition to his loving wife of seventy years, he is survived by a daughter, Sharon Albertson; two sons, Keith Albertson and wife Karen and Kevin Albertson and wife Elaine; four grandchildren, Lindsey Spencer and husband Kerry, Stacy Albertson, Scout Albertson, and Will Albertson; and three great grandchildren, Luke Spencer, Samuel Spencer, and Ava Grace Gonzalez.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Evelyn Hines; and his brother, Rogers Albertson.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18 at Archdale Friends Meeting.  The family will receive friends prior to the service at the meeting from 2:30-4:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Inurnment will follow the service in the Meeting columbarium.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Archdale Friends Meeting, 114 Trindale Rd., Archdale, N.C. 27263.
