Mr. Ronald “Ron” Dean Hawks, 69, resident of Kernersville, died August 8, 2022 at his home.
He was born March 12, 1953 in Davidson County, a son to the late Cleo B. and Dorothy Louise Russell Hawks. A resident of this area all his life, he worked in the glass and mirror industry, attended Peace Haven Baptist Church in Yadkinville, and was an avid hunter. Especially, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ron was always up for whatever they wanted to do, no matter the activity. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. In 1972, he married the former Rhonda Spaugh who survives of the residence. In November of this year, they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was preceded in death by a special son-in-law, Mark Lenderman in 2018; a very close sister-in-law, Debbie Spaugh in 2019; and his sister, Annette.
Also surviving are three daughters, Amy Askew (Alan) of Wimberley, TX; Tracy Lenderman of Asheville, NC; and Stephanie Spargo (Jon) of Rochester, NY; two sisters, Judy Cranford of Blacksburg, VA and Barbara Hemrick (Harold) of Asheboro; a brother, Donald Hawks (LuAnn) of Thomasville; and ten grandchildren, 2nd Lieutenant Austin Askew (Sarah), Specialist Aiden Askew, Ashlyn Askew, Titus Lenderman, Leah Lenderman, Julia Lenderman, Adison Spargo, Kaelyn Spargo, Landon Spargo and Jackson Spargo.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Pastor Ralph Sexton, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. His interment will be private. Memorials may be directed to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at 243 N.
