Rosalind Roach Allen, treasured mother, grandmother, sister, and true friend to all that knew her, passed away Monday, January 17th 2022 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Rosalind was born August 29th, 1943 in High Point, NC to Ellis Henry Roach and Margaret Davis Roach. She graduated from High Point High School in 1961 and attended High Point College. In 1963, she married her first husband, the late Charles Hunsucker, and together they had their only daughter, Wendy.
For twenty-two years, she was the smiling face and friendly voice that greeted customers at High Point Bank. She then joined the team at Henley Paper Company, now Atlantic Packaging, where she continued to be their clients’ first impression until her retirement at age seventy-two.
Before moving to Greensboro, Rosalind was a loyal member of Emerywood Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir, fellowship suppers, and her cherished friends from the Skin Parker Sunday School Class.
Rosalind never met a stranger. And if she did, they were not strangers for long. She loved the Lord, her family, her many friends, animals, the beach, The Dog House, watching sports on TV, and all things UNC, (with the wardrobe to prove it).
Through a shared love of beach music and shag dancing, Rosalind met and married the love of her life, Paul Allen. Together they danced joyously through their time together, ultimately being inducted into the Living Legends in North Myrtle Beach. When Paul’s health began to fail, Rosalind tirelessly devoted herself to his care until his passing in 2020.
Her trademark nails and ever-present smile will forever be missed by all who crossed her path. But, above all else, Rosalind loved and was beloved by her family and friends. She was not only a wonderful mother, but best friend and partner in life, to her devoted daughter, Wendy. Rosalind shared a very special relationship with her son in law, Jim, whom she considered her own. But no love compared to that which she felt for her grandsons Jake and Gray. She reveled in their every milestone for which she was always present.
Rosalind was predeceased by her parents; husband, Paul Allen and brother, Roger Roach.
Left to forever cherish her memory are daughter Wendy Austin (Jim); grandsons Jake and Gray Austin; sisters, Marilyn Ellis (Monnie), Rita Latham (Bobby Branning), Barry Roach (Julia); a host of special nieces and nephews, and a literal army of shaggers, friends, and neighbors.
