Ruth Agnes (Wells) Collie

Ruth Agnes Wells Collie, 92, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Westchester Manor Nursing Home in High Point.  Mrs. Collie was born on April 16, 1926 in Blairs, Virginia to the late Brad Beverly Wells and Gertie Shields Wells.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Walter Giles Collie, in 1989 and three brothers, Harold Wells and wife Shirley, David Wells and wife Eunice, and Freddie Wells.

Mrs. Collie’s family, friends, and her animals meant the world to her.  She had the kindest of hearts and always put others before herself.  She was truly a special woman, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. 

She is survived by her two children, Bernard Collie and wife Linda, and Barry Collie, all of High Point; her granddaughter, Jennifer Rea and husband Scott, of Charlotte, and her grandson, Jeffrey Collie and wife Laura, of Greensboro, as well as her three great grandchildren, Colbie, William, and Ruthie.  She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Lorraine Collie and Lois Collie Nephew, both of Danville, Virginia.

She retired from North State Telephone in 1996, where she worked for over thirty years and gained a wonderful group of lifelong friends.  

A funeral service followed by a visitation will be conducted on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.  A private interment will be held at a later a time.  To honor her bright spirit, the family asks that attendees wear blue or yellow, Ruth’s two favorite colors, to the funeral service.
