Ruth Holbrook Hawkins

THOMASVILLE-Ruth Holbrook Hawkins, 86, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017.

She was born on May 11, 1931 in Guilford County, to the late Harvey and Ellen Honeycutt Holbrook. A resident of this area all of her life, she had owned and operated Ruth Hawkins Beauty Shop on English Road, High Point, for 40 plus years. She was an Avon Representative and was a member of the Presidents Club. Ruth loved her Lord, and enjoyed being an active longtime member of Fairmont Park Baptist Church. She also enjoyed spending time with her family; whether it was a trip to the beach or cooking a meal for them. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister and she will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Louis Hawkins; an Infant daughter and a grandson, Branden Hawkins.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her sons, Randy Hawkins and his wife Daneal, Eddie Hawkins and his wife Carolyn, Tony Hawkins and his wife Karen; her brother, Howard Halbrook and his wife Nola; her half-sister, Sharon Caudell and her husband Allen.  Also surviving are her grandchildren, Heath Hawkins and his fiancé Amy Shelley, Lindley Johnson and her husband Cody, Casey Hawkins, Miranda Hawkins, Gabrielle Lambeth and her husband Jay; her great grandchildren, Eston Lambeth, Lillie Lambeth and Ridge Johnson.

A service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held on Thursday, June 15, at 10 am, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor Wayne Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
