S.W. "Buster" Bartlett

SOPHIA - SW “Buster” Bartlett passed away in his home on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

He was born on October 3, 1935, and was the son of the late Homer and Sally Riddle Bartlett. He was surrounded by family during the last few moments of his life. If everyone who loved him could have been there, we would have needed a coliseum. He seldom met a stranger and if he did, they weren’t for long. Buster was a faithful man of God and a member of Bales Memorial Wesleyan Church. He was known for handing quarters out to any child he met.  He retired from the Old Dominion Freight family. Buck was a humble man with great since of humor and contagious personality. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary Bartlett; son, Mark Bartlett; brother, Ernest Bartlett; and sisters, Lynn King and Jean Sparks.

He is survived by his children, Ricky Bartlett, Randy Bartlett, Steve Bartlett and wife, Debra, Dale Bartlett and wife, Christy, and Misty Kniest; a sister, Bobbie Clodfelter; three brothers, John Bartlett, Joe Bartlett and Homer Bartlett, Jr.; his grandchildren, Kasey, Morgan, Harley, Davidson, Heather, Stephanie, Adam, Chelcy, Halen, Cory, Chad, Xavier, and Jarianna; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral service celebrating Buster’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023, in the Chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Carl Pulliam and Rev. Jim Sides officiating.  Interment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery in Asheboro.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home, located at 3687 Mt. Olive Church Road.
