Shellie Mae Baker Walters Sawyer, 94 of High Point entered into her eternal home on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
Shellie Mae was born in Douglas, Georgia on September 13, 1924 to the late Lonnie Baker and Amanda Davis Baker.
A long-time resident of this area, Shellie Mae worked for years at Acme Sample Books before retiring. She attended Trinity Heights Wesleyan Church. Shellie Mae was very devoted to family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also occupied her time doing crafts following retirement and was an excellent cook. Her legacy is her love for her family and friends, and her faith in God.
In addition to her parents, Shellie Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Walters whom she married on November 1, 1941.
Cherishing a lifetime of memories are her three children, Marilyn Langley (Russell) of Pawley’s Island, SC; Timothy Walters (Nancy) of Augusta, GA; And Susan Childress of High Point. In addition, she is survived by one brother, Elton Baker of Douglas, GA; four grandchildren, Angie Campbell, Robert Walters, Jenna Antignano and Teresa Eaton; five great grandchildren, Cori Collins, Max Antignano, Haleigh Eaton, Madison Eaton and Sophie Eaton; and one great-great grandchild, Lexi Wilson.
The family will honor Shellie Mae’s life at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019 in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point, NC. Pastor Crawford Crenshaw and Pastor James Capps will officiate. The burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
