Sibyl Ruth (Brown) Weant

Sibyl Brown Weant, 94, of Thomasville passed away at home on Monday, May 21, 2018.

She was born in Ramseur, NC to the late Wayland Brown and Lucy Ellen Brown and lived most of her life in High Point before retiring to Jefferson, NC in 1981. She returned to the Triad 11 years ago to be cared for by her daughter, Ellen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Hilliard Weant. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her children; Ellen Drinkard of Thomasville, Brenda Carr and husband, Jeff of High Point and Gilbert Weant, Jr., grandchildren; Valerie Lewis Wallace and husband, Darrell of Myrtle Beach, SC, Amy Lewis Embler and husband, David of Thomasville, NC, Lauren Carr Bailey and husband, Rob of Raleigh, NC., great-grandchildren; Ryon Lewis, Darrell Wallace, Logan Embler, Zachary Wallace, Casey Embler and Mollie Bailey and her brother, Raymond Brown of Ramseur.

She was an operating room nurse at Burgess Hospital (now High Point Regional) and was respected by the many doctors who she worked under. She was an active member of First United Methodist as well as Jefferson United Methodist and was active in United Methodist Women.

She loved cooking and always had a meal prepared when visitors or family would come. Her pastimes included bridge club, gardening, and helping her friends.

The family would like to send a special thanks to her loving caregivers; Dotty, Amy, Joyce, Jana, Betty and Amanda.  She will be missed by all her family and friends.

A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life.

The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 4615 Dundas Drive, Greensboro, NC. , Hospice of the Piedmont at 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC  or to a charity of one’s choice.
