Thelma Hines Smith

ARCHDALE-Thelma Hines Smith, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 7, 2018.

She was born on March 26, 1925 in Guilford County, to the late Carl and Ida Culler Hines. A resident of this area all her life, she worked for Ellington’s Florist and retired after 20 years of service. Thelma was a member of New Life Baptist Church, where she was a former member of the church choir. She enjoyed being involved in her church, word puzzles, watching butterflies, and eating at the Carolina Diner with her friends.  Her true love and passion was spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Jack Smith; her son, Wayne Smith; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by her daughter; Candace Smith; her brother, Pat Hines and his wife, Pauline; her sister, Blanche Falkenberry; her grandchildren, Cori Smith (Benjamin Smith), Logan Smith (Katlyn Haney); her great granddaughter, Scout Harper Smith. Also surviving are her daughter in law, Trudy Smith; her sister in law, Joan Hines and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Thelma’s life will be held on Sunday, June 10^th, at 2:30 pm, at New Life Baptist Church, with Pastor Michael Mabe and Reverend Roger Carmichael officiating. Her family will receive friends following the service at the church.
