Thomas Phillip Baker

Thomas Phillip Baker, 96 of Jamestown passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023.  Born December 28, 1926 in Guilford County he is the son of the late Mary Thomas Walker and stepfather Paul Walker.  At the age of 8 he was stricken with polio but went on to survive many years.   Mr. Baker was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church. He played football in high school where he met his future wife Connie who preceeds him in death after 68 years of marriage. Mr. Baker was an avid golfer and a former member of Sedgefield Country Club.  In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by his brother Charlie Baker.

Mr. Baker is survived by a son Tom Baker, Jr. and significant other Bren of Jamestown, daughter Ann Baker Smith and husband Lee of Greensboro. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Brantley Baker, Meredith Wilson, Trey Smith and wife Nadia, Lee-Ann McGinnis and husband Jeff and seven great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mr. Baker will be held 11 am Friday, March 24, 2023 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro, NC with the Reverend Richard Howle officiating.  The family will greet friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made online to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
