THOMASVILLE-Tony Irwin, 74, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.
He was born on March 2, 1947 in High Point, a son of Arthur Fred Irwin and Edith Metters Irwin. A resident of this area all his life, he served in Vietnam with the US Navy and retired from Auto Zone. Tony enjoyed the outdoors; especially fishing at Lake Thomalex, and riding his Yamaha Roadstar to bike week in Sturgis, SD, Daytona Beach, FL and Myrtle Beach. His true love and passion was spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was loving son, husband, father, and Papaw and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Steve Irwin; his sister, Donna Irwin and two great granddaughters, Maggie and Haven Irwin.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 55 years, Patricia Montgomery Irwin; his children, Artie Irwin and his wife, Brenda, Tonya Pierce and her husband, Bobby; his mother, Edith Metters Irwin; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Tony’s life will be held on Monday, October 18, at 1:00 p.m., at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, with Pastor Roger Carmichael officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the US Navy and the Randolph County Honor Guard.
