Tribute

HIGH POINT-Velma Kirkland “Bell” Clampitt, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 9, 2021.

She was born on January 21, 1935 in Bryson City, NC, a daughter of the late Jesse and Sarah Franklin Kirkland. A resident of High Point most of her life, she worked for Crown Foam of High Point and retired after 15 years of service. She was an active member of New Grace Baptist Church in Thomasville, where she was a member of the Seniors Group. Bell was a mother first and foremost.  She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them.  She especially loved her role as a grandmother and was a guiding light for her family for the entirety of her being, keeping everyone together, and leading them along the path of life.  She enjoyed cooking, Christmas with all her grandchildren, crafting, crossword puzzles and reading. She loved her Lord, her family and her friends and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were a son, Doug Byrd; 4 sisters and 5 brothers.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband of 65 years, Aron Clampitt; her daughters, Vickie Hayes and her husband, Jerry Lynn, Pam Lawson and her husband, Kenny’; her grandchildren, Nicole Hayes, Robert Hayes, Stephanie Yarbrough and her husband, Ryan Tyler, Tera Weigman and her husband, Dennis, Daniel Byrd and family, Jackie Barnes and family; her great grandchildren, Kassidie, Tyler, Denny and Kenny. Also surviving are her daughter in-law, Linda Byrd and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Bell’s life will be held on Tuesday morning, September 14, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale. Officiating will be Pastor Donnie Lunsford and Pastor Michael Mabe. The committal service will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery in High Point. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday morning, from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m., at the funeral home, and other times at the home of her daughter, Vickie Hayes..
