ARCHDALE-Walter J. Hill, 93, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 9, 2018.
He was born on August 23, 1925 in Randolph County, to the late John Franklin and Ellen Church Hill. A resident of this area all of his life, he was co-founder of Kraft Converters, DEW Inc., Hill Pak Inc., and Pioneer Family Restaurant. Walter attended Garrell Street Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and decorating his home at Christmas time. Every year for 40 years, Walter, and his late wife of 63 years; Ruby Stout Hill, would decorate their home with lights and scenery, and people would come from near and far to see it. His true love and passion was spending time with his family, friends, and going to church. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, and friend to many, and he will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents and his wife, preceding him in death were 2 brothers, John Hill and Hamp Hill.
He is survived by his son, Frank Hill; his daughters, Louise Bradley, Linda Thompson and her husband, Dennis; his sisters, Elizabeth Sechrest, and Marlene Marshall; his brothers, Henry Hill, Jerry Hill and his wife, Shirley, and Herthey Hill. Also surviving are his 6 grandchildren, Madorie Hill-Skeen, Lonnie Hill, Edward Bradley, Chris Bradley, Cindy Pelchat, and Johnny Taylor; 9 great grandchildren and 4 great- great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Walter’s life will be held on Friday afternoon, December 14, at 2 o’clock, at Hope Baptist Church in Sophia, with Reverend Dr. John Hill, Reverend Dr. Rodney Otwell and Reverend Jason Prevatte officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. His family will receive friends on Friday, from 11:30 until 1:30 at the church.
