Wesley (Sam) Addison Sams passed away on July 30, 2020. He was born February 7, 1941 to the late P. E. (Eck) Sams and Nellie Mae Hill Sams, both of Jamestown.
Wesley attended Jamestown High School and graduated from Bryce Commercial College. In 1972, he graduated with honors from Guilford Technical Institute with an associate’s degree in Automotive Mechanics. Wesley owned and operated Sams Wrecking Service in Jamestown, North Carolina. He made many friends during the years he spent at the salvage yard. Wesley attended both Mitchell's Grove United Methodist Church and Renaissance Road Church.
Wesley is survived by Hedy (Lanie) Maness of the home; son, Darrell Sams; daughter Darlene Ellis (Larry); Lanie’s daughter, Ashley Maness; grandchildren, Brentley Sams (Stephanie), Courtney Floyd, Jonathan Floyd and Jackson Bentley Sams; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brother, Stephen Sams; sisters, Donna Minton, Sharon Anderson and Suenell Taylor (Stephen). Wesley also had a number of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, in addition to his lifelong best friend, Dewey Ray Smith.
A celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, August 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Road Church, 5114 Harvey Road, Jamestown, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mitchell's Grove United Methodist Church or Renaissance Road Church.
