William "Bill" Franklin McCarter

High Point – William Franklin McCarter, “Bill”, born May 19, 1927, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 12, 2020.

Bill proudly served his country in WWII. He worked 37 years at Hercules Powder Company, Parlin, NJ, where he served as the Union President. Bill was a storyteller with a sense of humor. He was also a great cook and will always be remembered for his apple dumplings and apple bread.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 71 years, Jacqulene Whitaker McCarter; daughter, Judy and Richard Young; son, Billy McCarter; and granddaughter, Cassie McCarter. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy McCarter Ricks, and grandson, Gregory Young.

Funeral will be 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16th, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point, officiated by Rev. Casey Bradford. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:30 until 5:30. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

Bill attended Tabernacle Baptist Church, and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 3929 Johnson St., High Point, NC 27265.
