William Ward Ring, Sr. 86 of High Point died Friday, March 16, 2018 at High Point Regional Hospital. Born December 12, 1931 in High Point he is a son of the late Esca Thomas Ring and Ada Ward Ring. He is a veteran of the US Coast Guard. Mr. Ring retired from Barnhardt Manufacturing as a plant manager after 35 years of service. He was married to Kathryn Gerringer Ring who preceded him in death on April 27, 2009. July 24, 2010 he married Velva “Cookie” Quinn. Mr. Ring loved to travel in addition to boating, fishing, golf and the beach.
He is survived by his wife Velva “Cookie” Quinn-Ring of High Point, three children; W. Ward Ring of High Point, David G. Ring and wife Lorie of High Point, and Kay Ring Pitts and husband Billy of Cornelia, Georgia, and step children; Aaron B. Quinn, III and wife Lisa of High Point, R. Tucker Quinn and Michael B. Quinn both of Thomasville and Velva Quinn Yurko of High Point. Mr. Ring is also survived by seven grandchildren; Eli Ring, Isaac Ring, Nick Ring, Maddie Ring, Alex Ring, Kaycie Pitts, Jessica Pitts and three step grandchildren, Melissa Springer and husband Larry, Courtney Bizzel, David Yurko and wife Karin and five step great grandchildren, Kaylee Hamblen, Quinn Hamblen, Emma Springer, Chloe Springer and Logan Springer. The family would like to thank his caregivers Dominic Harriett and Jacob for their care and devotion.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of William “Bill” Ring will be held 4:00 pm Thursday at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church with the Reverends Amanda Stephenson, David Umphlett, Larry Conrad, Jr. and Jimmy Marsh, Jr. officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
