Mr. Charles Earmon Rudd

Mr. Charles Earmon Rudd, 87, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at Hospice Home at High Point. He was the loving husband of the late Ramona Raby Rudd.

Born on February 1, 1927 in High Point a son of the late William Earmon and Martha Jane Shore Rudd. He was a former employee of Monumental Life Insurance, formerly Durham Life Insurance for over 30 years until his retirement.

He was a veteran serving his country in the United States Navy.

He was an active member of Gospel Baptist Church and sang in the choir.

In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He was a very social man with a great sense of humor.

Surviving are two children, Charles Rodney Rudd and his wife, Sandra of Danville, VA, and Susan R. Kennedy and husband, Mike of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Randy Reed and his wife, Robin, Kenny Reed and his wife, Christie, Cheryl l Varner, and Michael Kennedy; six great grandchildren, Caleb Reed, Elijah Reed, Hanna Reed, Grayson Reed, Doyle Varner, and Owen Varner. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Wayne and Randall Leon Rudd.

A funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 206 Trindale Road, Archdale with Rev. Frank Gribble officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
