Joel Anthony Cates, age 46, a resident of Trinity passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014.
He was born September 4, 1967 in Alamance County to Jerry Adams Cates, Sr., and Arlene Allison Cates and been a resident of the Trinity area since 2007. He owned Eclipse Auto Tinting in Archdale for 26 years and he attended Community Baptist Church in Silver Valley. Joel enjoyed drawing, cooking and spending time with his children. He was always willing to help the less fortunate and he never met a stranger. He was a loving father; son and brother and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his farther, his paternal grandparents, Charlie and Virginia Cates, his maternal grandparents, George and Margaret Keck Allison and his beloved aunt, Marcene McClure.
He is survived by his children, Jordan Ball and her husband Jay, Lauren Cates, Jacob Alexander Cates and Shelby Cates; his mother, Arlene Allison Cates and his brother, Jerry Adams Cates, Jr. Also surviving is his good friend, Rhonda.
A service to celebrate Joel's life will be held on Saturday morning, September 20, 2014, at 11:30 from the Community Baptist Church, Lexington, with Pastor Brian Workman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of his mother.
